You are met at the airport and driven to Gold Zanzibar, overlooking the beach on the island’s northern coast. After a welcome drink and check-in, dinner and the night are on a half-board basis.
Head first to the Kizimbani plantations to pick and taste spices and tropical fruit, then on to Stone Town for a guided tour of the market, the 1874 cathedral, the Zanzibar Museum, Tippu Tip’s House, the Old Fort and the Indian Dispensary. You finish with a wander through the narrow lanes before returning to the hotel for dinner.
Drive to Fumba for a day on a traditional sailing dhow fitted with life jackets and radios, anchoring in calm shallows to snorkel with good-quality equipment in a range of sizes. Lunch of barbecued fish, rice and curry is served on a sandbank or uninhabited island, followed by an outrigger canoe sail, and you are back at the hotel at around half past five.
A free day to swim, lounge by the pool or on the sand. If you want more, you can arrange diving, kayaking, windsurfing, fishing or a dhow cruise locally.
After breakfast, timed around your flight, you are transferred to the airport.
