Day by day
Day 1: Zanzibar to Nyerere and night drive
Fly from Zanzibar to Nyerere National Park and head straight out on a game drive to look for elephants, lions, hippos and crocodiles. Rest at the lodge later in the afternoon, then after dinner set out on a night drive in search of leopards, hyenas, genets and other nocturnal animals.
Day 2: Walking safari, Maasai boma and Rufiji River
Begin with a guided walk to discover the finer details of the bush, then visit a Maasai boma to learn about traditional life and customs. In the evening, take a relaxed boat trip on the Rufiji River to watch hippos, crocodiles and birds.
Day 3: Hot springs excursion and return to Zanzibar
After breakfast, take a packed lunch on a full-day game drive past lakes and wildlife to the hills, where you can see the grave of the explorer Frederick Selous and bathe in the natural hot springs. Afterwards, fly back to Zanzibar and transfer to your hotel.
