Day by day

Day 1: Zanzibar to Nyerere National Park

Leave your hotel early for Zanzibar Airport and take the short flight to Nyerere National Park (formerly the Selous Game Reserve), one of Africa’s largest protected areas. Set off straight away on a game drive in an open 4×4, pausing mid-morning for tea or coffee and at lunchtime for a hot picnic served at a table in the bush. After the drive, settle into your lodge for dinner and the night.

Day 2: Rufiji River and Maasai village to Zanzibar

Head out at sunrise for around two and a half hours on the Rufiji River, watching hippos, crocodiles and waterbirds, then return for breakfast. Late morning brings a visit to a nearby Maasai village, followed by lunch, check-out and the flight back to Zanzibar.
